Britney Spears To Receive Millennium Award, Perform Greatest Hits Medley At Billboard Music Awards

Britney Spears is about to reach a new milestone.

The pop superstar is being honored with the Millennium Award
at this year’s Billboard Music Awards, Billboard announced on Monday. She’s the third artist to receive the distinction in five years, following
Beyonce in 2011 and Whitney Houston in 2012.

In a press statement released to Access Hollywood, Billboard
referred to its Millennium Award as acknowledgment for an artist’s
“outstanding career achievements and influence in the music
industry.”

In addition to selling nearly 100 million albums worldwide,
Britney has taken home six previous Billboard Music Awards and has been
nominated for eight Grammys since her 1999 debut “…Baby One More
Time.” She’s currently at work on a ninth studio album.

Accepting the Millennium Award won’t be Britney’s only
onstage appearance at Billboard’s big night. She’s also set to perform a medley
of her greatest hits, and shared the news with her Twitter followers on Monday.
