Brooke Burke has opened up on how she and her longtime love, former “Baywatch” star David Charvet, pulled off her recent secret wedding in her “favorite destination in the world,” St. Barts.
“We told no one – no friends, not even our mothers,” Brooke wrote in a blog posted on ModernMom.com, the website for which she serves as CEO. “This is going to sound so Hollywood, but I did have to call in the industry troops – my stylist, jeweler & publicist to manage the news.
“Our wedding day was carefully thought-out, planned in spontaneous record time and perfectly produced by David,” she added.
The bride’s Mark Zunino wedding gown and Jimmy Choo shoes were hidden in a bag, along with her and David’s wedding bands by Peter Marco, so as not to draw any attention as they headed to their destination of choice – a sailboat.
“David drove my dress to the sailboat in the wee hours of the morning, so that no one would notice,” the “Dancing with the Stars” co-host wrote. “We were trying to be private, and the island was flooded with paparazzi.”
Brooke and David were engaged for five years and had two children together before finally making it official – a delay Brooke said was caused by fear.
“It was pure love, commitment, and romance that lead me to marry David in such a picture perfect way,” she wrote. “Trust me when I say that my love story has been unpredictable at times. But this day was a long time coming, beautifully staged, and totally meant to be.
Adding, “Many people asked my why we never married. Honestly, I was happy with how things were. But something changed this past year. To stand with David in the middle of the Caribbean sea and exchange our promise to one another seemed so powerful and meaningful. It was the greatest gift that I could give to us and to our children.”
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Brooke and David began dating in 2005, and became engaged in 2006. They have two children together — daughter Heaven, 4, and son Shaya, 3.
Brooke also has two daughters – Neriah, 11, and Sierra Sky, 9 – from her previous marriage to plastic surgeon Garth Fischer.
