Casting Call: Jake Gyllenhaal Set As ‘Prince Of Persia’

Some may consider Jake Gyllenhaal as Hollywood royalty, but now he’s officially a “Prince.”

Jake will star in “Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time,” a big screen feature based on the popular video game series, Disney has announced.

In the film, Jake will play Dastan, a young prince in 6th century Persia who joins forces with Tamina, an exotic princess to prevent an evil nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time – a gift from the gods that allows its possessor to rule the world, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Gemma Arterton has been cast as Tamina. The British beauty also stars in the upcoming Guy Ritchie-directed movie “RocknRolla” and the new James Bond film “Quantum of Solace.”

Jerry Bruckheimer, who will producer “Prince of Persia,” has some high hopes for his leading lady.

“We’ve been fairly fortunate with some our leading ladies,” Bruckheimer told The Hollywood Reporter. “Some of them have gone on to become major movie stars, going back to Nicole Kidman in a movie I did a long time ago called ‘Days of Thunder’ to Keira Knightley out of (‘Pirates of the Caribbean’).”

Filming is scheduled to begin in July on in England and Morocco.

Jake will next be seen in the war drama “Brothers,” alongside Natalie Portman and Tobey Maguire.
