David Bowie Memorial Concert To Be Held At Carnegie Hall

A tribute concert for David Bowie, scheduled prior to the
rock icon’s death, will still go on – but now as a memorial show, concert
promoters announced on Tuesday.

Cyndi Lauper, The Roots, Perry Farrell, Jakob Dylan, Heart’s
Ann Wilson and more will take part in the memorial concert at Carnegie Hall in
New York City on March 31.

“The unexpected death of David Bowie has made this
tribute, which we have worked on for the past 7 months, into a memorial
concert,” noted a statement on the concert’s official website. “While
the series has had the surprise appearances and performances of the honoree
several times in the past, this year’s concert will certainly be remembered as
a poignant celebration of his music by his friends, peers, and fans.

“We are all deeply saddened at this news, the timing of
our public on-sale date is bizarre in its timing and the show is taking on many
more emotions. RIP David and may God’s love be with you…” the statement
concluded.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Bowie
died on Sunday night following an 18-month battle with cancer.

Longtime Bowie collaborator Tony Visconti will lead the
house band during the memorial.
