Early ‘Spider-Man 3’ Images Surface

(November 22, 2006) — The latest images from the eagerly awaited “Spider-Man 3” have surfaced.

The new alternating teaser one-sheet soon to hit movie theatre lobbies depicts the popular Marvel superhero in an ominous mirror image of himself in both the classic red and blue costume and his new black and white get-up.

The third film in the blockbuster series will have Spider-Man / Peter Parker (played once again by Tobey Maguire) involved in a true multi-layered tangled web of a story.

Pulling no punches in this installment, the highlights for Spidey in the dark plot include: confronting a dangerous new villain, The Sandman (Oscar Nominee Thomas Haden Church); a love triangle involving Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) and Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard); an internal good-versus-evil struggle resulting from an obsession with a strange living alien that becomes the black and white costume; the final conflict with his estranged friend Harry Osborn (James Franco) who takes on the mantle of the Green Goblin from his late father; and a rivalry with fellow photographer Eddie Brock (Topher Grace), who is rumored to join with the black and white suit and transform into the monstrous Venom (a comic book fan favorite villain).

Going out with a bang, the film is the final installment officially scheduled in the series. Check back with that plan after the box office receipts are all counted up, the first two films combined grossed over $1.6 billion worldwide in ticket sales alone.

“Spider-Man 3” hits theatres May 2007.
