First Celebrity Contestant Eliminated On ‘Dancing With The Stars’; Chris Brown Gets Standing Ovation, Twice

It turns out one “Dancing with the Stars” celebrity contestant was indeed too racy for TV.

“Loveline” radio host Mike Catherwood became the first star eliminated on Season 12 of “Dancing with the Stars” on Tuesday night, taking his sexy, but not quite rhythm-friendly hip gyrations, and definitely PG-13 rated promotional show interviews, out of the ballroom.

“To be mentioned alongside the names [David] Hasselhoff and [Kenny] Mayne, it puts me on the Mount Rushmore of terrible dancers,” Mike said of being of being the first to get the boot in his season, an honor he now shares with the former “Knight Rider” star and ESPN journalist who both were axed first in their own seasons.

“It feels good, [Tom] Bergeron,” Mike added. “It feels good.”

Best known in Los Angeles for his work on KROQ radio, where he hosts the syndicated “Loveline” advice show alongside Dr. Drew Pinsky, and his work on the “Kevin & Bean” morning show, Mike wasn’t a hugely familiar face to national television audiences.

The handsome hunk did make an impression earlier in the year on ABC, when he charmed morning show audiences as a fill in for Regis Philbin on “Live! with Regis and Kelly,” but it appears his lighter celebrity status, combined with two weeks of poor dance scores alongside professional partner Lacey Schwimmer, took Mike out of the game.

While it was bad news for Mike, musical guest Chris Brown was celebrated by an impressed “Dancing” audience following his two performances on Tuesday’s results show.

In his first return to the ABC network since his shattered window incident at “Good Morning America” a week ago, the singer thrilled the crowd – first with a rendition of his latest hit, “Yeah 3X,” off his latest album “F.A.M.E.”

Bailey “B-Boy” Munoz from dance crew Future Funk opened the number, doing some hip-hop dancing, before Chris took to the stage alongside a host of costumed dancers. He appeared to lip-sync through the performance, but his energetic moves had the crowd and the “Dancing” judges – Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli — on their feet.

Chris’ second number – a medley of his hit “Forever” and “Beautiful People” – was also a crowd pleaser.

Full of dancers coated in neon lights like the singer, Chris worked up a big sweat on the dance floor and again, the crowd gave him a standing ovation.

“Dancing with the Stars” returns on Monday for another round of competition at 8 PM.
