Glam Slam: ‘Confessions’ Couture

What do fashion-oriented flicks like “Sex and the City” and “The Devil Wears Prada” have in common? Flame haired fashion guru, Patricia Field! Carrie Bradshaw would be nothing without her… so it’s no surprise that producer Jerry Bruckheimer turned to Pat to dress his style-centric romantic comedy, “Confessions of a Shopaholic” (opening on Friday) — based on the best selling book!

Pat gave us a sneak peek at “Confessions’” wardrobe wonderland – home of bright, bold color … and let’s just say shopaholics won’t find a cure in this closet. “It’s about labels,” Fields says, “Vivienne Westwood for example, Zac Posen, Dolce & Gabbana more like on the young labels side.”

Isla Fisher plays Rebecca Bloomwood the colorful shopping addict who isn’t letting her enormous fashion debt get in the way of her retail therapy. And it shows. In the movie Rebecca is adorned in Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, Christian Louboutin, Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior and Gucci… just to name (drop) a few!

Pat says they went through 25 wardrobe changes to capture Fisher’s carefree spirit so that meant lots of options, “we must go through probably 1000 garments including shoes and accessories, easily.” Pat even flew to fashion-forward Tokyo to find clothes for Isla’s petite frame — now that’s dedication!

Leslie Bibb plays Isla’s fashion rival who’s basically color blind when it comes to her style – dark, posh prints are her staple. “She’s high end and she’s like more hard edged,” Pat explains,” very black.” And she’s not afraid to make a strong statement, strutting her stuff in a Dolce & Gabbana trench coat made of sequins and snakeskin!

Whatever your preference, this film is sure to whet your style appetite and for Isla changed it completely. “When Pat started to like pull stuff for me I realized that I was quite afraid of color, “ Fisher admits “ now I think she’s kind of changed my perception of the way, about how I like to look.”

Personally, I’m not into bright colors, but if Pat Fields told me to wear hot pink and purple… I would.
