Glam Slam: Globes Style From The Red Carpet

I’ve just left the red carpet and my head is spinning a mile a minute. It was the most awesome Golden Globes carpet ever.

It was a complete traffic jam of stars coming up to our platform… Brad and Angie, Madonna (yes, Madonna!) George Clooney, Sofia Vergara, Charlize Theron…. one after another… fast and furiously…. my fingers actually got tired as I was quickly trying to type and send everything to Facebook as it was happening. I couldn’t keep up with all the action!

Now, I am backstage watching the show and writing this in our production office, which happens to be near the entrance where the stars go to present on stage… Madonna, Nicole Kidman and many other stars are waiting in the hall including Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy rehearsing their singing number before hitting the stage. So cool!

But let’s get back to the fashion… there was so much to look at. I don’t even know where to start!

CHARLIZE THERON in blush Dior. AMAZING! STUNNING! My favorite look of the night. Loved her vintage 1920’s Cartier diamond headpiece too — she looked like a princess in her very, very low cut but very elegant gown. She was with her mom and publicist, who helped adjust her dress as she waited to go up on our interview platform.

REESE WITHERSPOON rocked a red Zac Posen that looks like it was made just for her. She smiled and joked that she would need help getting up the steps, as she took the arm of one of our producers. I was digging her loose, tousled waves — the ultimate bed head look. She looked tan and healthy — like the ultimate California girl.

SOFIA VERGARA also had to work a bit getting up the steps in her very fitted, very beautiful strapless teal Vera Wang. I’m not sure photos will do this dress justice — seeing all the intricate work up close — let me tell you, this baby was a knockout.

ANGELINA JOLIE. I can’t even tell you how excited I was to be thisclose to the couple. (I even took this photo of them — that’s how close I was and it was surreal!) Angelina worked an ivory gown with thigh-high split and crimson detailing on the neckline, paired with matching bold red lips and Brad was his usual dapper self, even with a cane. I interviewed Brad, many, many years ago… but I have never seen Angie in person — oh yeah, I call her Angie now, we’re practically besties. Ha ha!

She is even more stunning in person. The photogs, the fans, everyone on the carpet was just going crazy over these two. I can’t image what it would be like to be them and have this kind of reaction as your normal everyday life. As they did an interview with Billy Bush, I watched them from three feet away and noticed they kept touching each other, holding hands or putting a hand on the back. They were a sweet, cute couple. They were nice and gracious and posed with various people on the red carpet.

MADONNA. Wow. She’s got some presence. Only saw her once in person before, but there’s something very commanding and electric about seeing her, especially close up. Always been a fan.

Jessica Alba was totally striking in an embellished Gucci number… Octavia Spencer also looked lovely in a lavender chiffon Tadashi Shoji gown and Christian Louboutin heels, which she kicked off backstage in the press room. Lea Michele and “The Descendants” star Shailene Woodley both in beautiful beaded Marchesa gowns. Loved the back of Claire Danes’ gown. Kate Beckinsale was flawless in white. Rooney Mara has perfect porcelain skin.

Jane Lynch dropped her earring as she waited to do her interview. (She found it!) Then, Evan Rachel Wood came over and wanted to wait until Jane’s interview was done so she could meet her and it was cool to see her introduce herself. Michelle Williams in blue velvet Jason Wu came with her best friend Busy Phillips and they did our interview together. Fun!

Oh, and the men. Let me tell you, I was around nothing but good looking guys. Clooney, Pitt, Rob Lowe (who looked directly at me and smiled), Matthew Morrison, Chris Colfer, Adam Levine, Guy Pearce, Gerard Butler. Leonardo DiCaprio set off fandemonium when he walked by.

After the show ended, I was next to the forever beautiful Michelle Pfeiffer and her husband David E. Kelley and then Jessica Alba as everybody was waiting for their cars. Jessica’s dress was one of the best of a night featuring many stunning ensembles. Well done, ladies, well done!
