Glam Slam: Makeup Mondays – Summer Trends To Try

Ready to freshen up and lighten up your makeup in time for Summer? I know I am!

I asked VANITYMARK makeup mogul Brett Freedman, who has worked with Vanessa Hudgens, Camilla Belle, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sienna Miller, Selena Gomez and Vanessa Williams for his top trends and how to pull them off!

OYSTER COLORED LIPS
Not quite nude, not quite pink with just a hint of luster. Oyster is a hot new look. Kelly Clarkson and Rihanna recently bared all with this soft look lip. I suggest pairing it with a deep, smokey eye to give a subtle sixties vibe. This is a great lip to go with today’s brighter, color saturated eye too. Why is it so fab? The touch of pink gives the lip a ‘not dead nude’ look and a bit of opal luster makes the kisser look modern and very fashion-y.

PEACH CHEEKS
Peach is huge this Summer! For a flush of cheek color, try a peach cream or stain – these formulas stay put in the heat better than powder blush and lipsticks or glosses. Apply the pop of color to the apples of the cheeks and sweep back and up toward temples. Keep it high to lift the cheeks/face. Think a semicolon sweeping up to the temples. My tip: apply to face before foundation or tinted moisturizer. This helps with staying power and gives an uber natural, lit from within look. I’ve used this tip on Brittany Snow.

THIN BRIGHT LIQUID LINER
I recently did Camilla Belle for a Grammy’s brunch and decided to give her look a touch of vivid color pop. I used soft neutrals on eyes, lips and cheeks then to bring her eyes to life; I swept a very thin aqua line on her top lash line. Matched with lots of lashes this look is most striking when looking down or away. It’s a nice surprise to see a flutter of a gem-toned pop in a gal’s flutter.
