Glam Slam: Oscar Style!

We are now three days away from what has been called “Hollywood’s Biggest Night.” For fashion lovers, it’s up there, for sure!

Glam Slam’s Oscar Week coverage rolls on, today we’re all about the style! Celebrity Stylists Emily Current and Meritt Elliott, who are also the designers behind hip denim line Current/Elliott (a fave of everyone from Gwen Stefani to Katie Holmes), predict the red carpet trends we’ll see.

ALL RUFFLED UP:
No red carpet is complete without some drama! This year we think large ruffles will take center stage – whether they are at the shoulder, at the hip or cascading down the hem of a dress. We saw the start of this trend at the Golden Globes and we think the ruffles at the Oscars will be even bigger and more dramatic. Maggie Gyllenhaal tends to go high fashion on the red carpet (which we love!) and think she just may rock this delicious detail.

THE STYLISHLY COLD SHOULDER:
Whether it’s a peaked shouldered dress like we saw all over the runways this year or an unexpected embellishment, we think there will be an interest on the shoulders this year. Carey Mulligan would look smashing in an asymmetrical one shouldered gown with that splendid pixie hair!

LOVELY LINGERIE:
Corset and bustier inspired dresses are sure to make us blush on the red carpet this year. These styles create a waist and are super flattering on the figure. Anna Kendrick would look perfectly sexy in a lingerie inspired gown. We would love to see her in white!

PASTEL PARADE:
One trend we are certain we will see at this years Oscars is a sea of feminine pastel colors. So much of the Spring runway was dedicated to pale shades of pink, nudes and neutrals. This soft femininity would feel refreshing and new on Ms. Penelope Cruz.

METALLIC MUSTS:
We are loving anything metal! We gush for gold and salivate for silver. Whether the gown itself is metallic or the shine is in the shoes or accessories, it always adds some Hollywood glam or rocker-ish edge to any look.

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE JEWELS:
Big earrings are back! So are big, chunky gem necklaces. The jewels at this years Oscars will not disappoint! We look forward to seeing who wears a collar of diamonds or who goes for giant emerald earrings to spruce up a black dress. We would love to see Gabourey Sidibe in some serious statement jewels!
