Glam Slam: The Three Faces Of Fall

Ready to get your Fall on? There are “Three Faces of Fall” to choose from when it comes to makeup looks, according to Holly Carter, People StyleWatch Beauty Director.

It’s the perfect time to revamp and renew by taking inspiration from the season’s hottest makeup trends, says Holly. “Whether you want soft and subtle or all out glamorous, there’s a look for you!”

Holly breaks down the three looks and how you can achieve them.

FOR AN EDGY LOOK… LIKE KRISTEN STEWART
Dare to wear bold eye shadow in shades reminiscent of Fall foliage—rust, deep purple or pink. Fair and medium complexions can go for sheer or opaque formulas. But those with darker skin should stick to highly pigmented opaques as the color will be more noticeable and vibrant. The monotone look is big this Fall so try using just one shade. Apply it on lash lines, lids or at your eyes outer corners. Just be careful if pink is your color of choice – if it’s near your lash lines it might make eyes look irritated.

FOR A GLAM LOOK… LIKE JESSICA ALBA
Go for a deep, dark lip—think burgundy, wine and plum. These bold shades make for a cool twist on classic red. As far as finding your best shade, it’s pretty intuitive – lighter berry shades work for fair skin, crimson and wine for medium tones and deep purple or eggplant for darker complexions. To make your lip color go the distance, line and fill in your lips with a lip liner in a shade that matches your lipstick. For a more toned down stain, use your pointer finger to lightly pat on the lipstick or just stick to gloss.

FOR A NATURAL LOOK… LIKE SIENNA MILLER
The idea is to just subtly enhance. Your palette should be soft and fresh, just playing up your own natural tones. For eyes, pick a shadow that’s no more than a shade darker than the color of your lids. Keep your lip color (gloss or lipstick) close to the color of your lips too. Of course you don’t want to look washed out, so give cheeks healthy color with pink (for fair skin) or berry (for medium to dark complexions). And add a little oomph to eyes with mascara (basic black or brown for a super-natural look) and even a touch of brown liner at your lash lines.
