Heroic Hayden’s Mom: ‘She’s One Of The Good Girls’

Just a week removed from her dramatic encounter with a group of Japanese fishermen, it’s understandable that Hayden Panettiere still gets emotional when she talks about the incident.

In part two of her interview with Access Hollywood, the “Heroes” star took Tony Potts through her heart wrenching journey.

“I’m going to get emotional again,” Hayden said as she sat on our stage re-watching the footageof her attempt to save a group of pilot whales from inveitable execution.

Her words soon to came to fruition as the teen star began to break down on our stage as she watched the footage of herself sobbing on the shore,following the incident.

“We went into the bay and it was literally blood red,” she recalled, as tears welled up in her eyes. “You could have stuck a paint brush in there and painted a picture with how red the water was.”

Hayden joined a group of peaceful protestors in the water, fighting against the whales being slaughtered for their meat. As a spokesperson for SaveTheWhalesAgain.org, Hayden’s passion and actions have set her apart from so many other young stars.

“How does somebody of your age have such a good head on her shoulders?” Tony asked.

“I try to stay as far away from clubs or scenes as I possible can,” Hayden revealed.

In addition, she credits her mother Lesley for being a positive influence in her life.

In fact, Lesley even joined Hayden in those waters off the coast of Japan.

“I’m very proud of my daughter. She’s one of the good girls,” her mother said earlier this year on Hayden’s 18th birthday.

Beaming words of pride from mom about her daughter, which Tony reminded Lesley of saying when she joined Hayden on our stage.

“I remember saying that. She is one of the good girls,” Lesley smiled. “Hayden will get upset with me about something and I’ll say to her, ‘That’s my job. As your mom, that’s my job.’

“I think she gets it. She gets it. She knows,” her mom concluded.
