Is Idina Menzel Headed Back To ‘Glee’?

Idina Menzel is headed back to the halls of William McKinley High, according to a new report.

The Tony Award-winning actress is set to return to “Glee” for a “major arc” that could include as many as 10-12 episodes, according to Deadline.

Idina will reprise her role as Shelby Corcoran, former coach of rival glee club Vocal Adrenaline, who is also Rachel Berry’s (played by Lea Michele) biological mother.

The popular Broadway star will return to the high school as a new teacher, Deadline reported, causing complications for Rachel, as well as for Shelby’s former fling, Will Schuester (played by Matthew Morrison).

“I’m really excited that Idina is joining the family again,” showrunner Ryan Murphy told the site. “We missed her last year and we’re happy that she is coming back.”

Idina originally appeared on the hit FOX series during the show’s first season, tickling fans pink as she and Lea Michele sang a toned down piano-driven version of Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” together.

After five episodes on the show, Idina’s character adopted Quinn (Dianna Agron) and Puck’s (Mark Salling) baby girl, then left the small Ohio town.

A rep for Idina was not immediately available for comment on her reported return when contacted by Access Hollywood on Saturday.
