James Brown’s Family Planning Museum

COLUMBIA, S.C. (January 15, 2007) — Move over Graceland. James Brown’s family wants to turn the late soul singer’s home into a museum.

Brown’s attorney says his children, several close friends and the singer’s trustees are discussing plans for the South Carolina site, which would include a mausoleum for his body.

They want to consult with Elvis Presley’s family to see how they did Graceland. And the C-E-O of Elvis Presley Enterprises says they’d be happy to help.

The man known as the Godfather of Soul died of heart failure on Christmas Day at age 73. His body is lying in a sealed casket at his home on Beech Island until his children choose his final resting place.
