Kelly Clarkson Uttered Her First Real ‘I Love You’ To Husband

Cue the awwwws! Kelly Clarkson saved her first “I love you” for her husband, Brandon Blackstock.

“He was the first guy I… said it [to] – and wanted to say it,” Kelly told “CBS Sunday Morning’s” Tracy Smith. “I didn’t feel like I had to. Because, like, ‘Oh, that’s what you have to do when you say it.’ Yeah, yeah, that’s the first time that happened. That’s horrible. But it’s true. And that’s how – what it is.”

Kelly – who married Brandon in October 2013 – said she didn’t think she’d ever find her fairytale romance.

“I never thought honestly I would get married or fall in ‘love,’ like they say in the movies,” the singer admitted. “You know, I never thought that would happen. And not so because I didn’t think it was true.”

The “American Idol” champ was a child of divorce, even writing about it in her song “Because of You.” Her parents split when she was just six years old.

As a result, the Grammy winner said marriage wasn’t something she was “presented” with in her upbringing.

“I just didn’t know if it was possible,” the “Heartbeat Song” singer said.

Kelly and Brandon welcomed their first child together – daughter River Rose – on June 12, 2014. He has two children from a previous marriage.

Watch Kelly’s full interview on “CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood” on March 1 at 9/8c on CBS. Her new album, “Piece By Piece,” will be available on March 3.
