Kevin McHale: Co-Hosting The Teen Choice Awards Is ‘Exciting’ & ‘Terrifying’

Kevin McHale was just announced as the co-host of the Teen Choice Awards (alongside Demi Lovato) and he admitted he’s a little nervous.

“It’s very, very, very exciting — also terrifying,” the actor who plays Artie on “Glee” told AccessHollywood.com at Comic-Con 2012 in San Diego on Saturday.

“Demi was doing it and I happened to join, so it’s nice enough that she let me do that,” he added. “I don’t want to mess up her show. It’s her show, I will contribute what I can.”

Kevin admitted he’s already had some pre-show jitters for the awards bash, which airs Sunday, July 22 at 8 PM on FOX.

“I woke up the other day, I’m like, ‘Oh God! It’s live!” he laughed.

The actor and some of his fellow Gleeks actually hosted the show previously, but this time around it’s just a two person job.

“We did it before — a couple of guys from the show and Katy Perry. We did it two years ago, but that was a lot more of us. It was like six of us, so we could split it between [us],” he said.

Kevin hit Comic-Con alongside his cast mates, including Jenna Ushkowitz (both spotted together cheering from the “Game of Thrones” panel audience on Friday), but they also were out promoting “Glee,” which returns this fall on FOX.

All of the main cast members are coming back (despite several graduations last season) and the two were happy over the news.

“The show wouldn’t be the same without everybody,” Kevin said.

“It’s a family, so if… one thing is missing, you’re like, ‘Where is everybody?’” Jenna added.

Kate Hudson joins the show this season for a guest arc, playing Rachel Berry’s dance teacher Cassandra July, while Sarah Jessica Parker will play the editor of Vogue.com (and encounter Kurt Hummel).

Artie and Tina’s story lines aren’t likely to cross with the two film stars, but Jenna said she and Kevin may need to stop by during filming.

“We will end up on set those days, and be like, ‘I’m working today, right?’” she laughed.
