Lauren Alaina Shares Carrie Underwood’s Secret Words Before Their ‘Idol’ Performance; Reveals She Predicted Scotty’s Win

Lauren Alaina may not have won “American Idol,” but she’s a winner to her own idol – Carrie Underwood.

“Right before we went out there, she said, ‘No matter what Lauren, you’re a winner and you’re going to be amazing in the country field,’” Lauren recounted to Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson after Wednesday’s big “American Idol” Grand Finale, which saw her performing “Before He Cheats” with the Season 4 champ.

“That was really uplifting,” Lauren said.

The 16-year-old Rossville, Ga., performer lost out on the “Idol” crown to Scotty McCreery on Wednesday night and she told Access’ Shaun that she had a feeling – despite her tear-jerking final number on Tuesday of original song “Like My Mother Does,” that her close “Idol” pal would take the prize.

“I knew Scotty was going to win,” Lauren revealed. “I just had a feeling, I told like everyone confetti is going to fall on me, but it’s going to be falling for Scotty. That was like my saying all day long.”

Lauren even shared her prediction with the 17-year-old from North Carolina leading up to last night’s show, but he apparently had another idea.

“He told me that I was going to win, but I knew he was going to and it’s great because he’s like my best friend and I love him,” she said.

Now that the competition is over, Lauren said she plans to take a little time with her loved ones before continuing her music career.

“I’m going to just spend some time with my family and… then come back out here and…start this career,” she laughed.
