Lea Michele Shoots Down Past Romance Rumors With ‘Glee’ Co-Star Matthew Morrison

Lea Michele’s “Glee” character, Rachel Berry, may have spent a lot of time pining over Matthew Morrison’s Will Schuester character on the hit FOX show, but Lea is shooting down tabloid rumors that she was once romantically involved with Matthew.

In an interview with Ryan Seacrest on Thursday morning on his KIIS-FM Los Angeles radio show, Lea addressed a report by In Touch Weekly, which suggested the co-stars had a romantic history.

“Really?!” she laughed, when Ryan told her about the report. “What kind of history?”

Lea cleared up her “history” with Matthew from their time working on Broadway.

“Oh my goodness. I really don’t have to answer that [report]. I’ve known Matt for years. He’s been a friend of mine from New York,” she explained. “People are going to make things up. I think it’s just because we really are so close and everybody seriously is such a family [on ‘Glee’].”

The In Touch story claimed the pair hooked up in 2007 when Lea was starring in “Spring Awakening” on Broadway, and Matthew was starring in “South Pacific.”

A rep for Matthew reportedly denied the claim.

History aside, Lea told Ryan that she is currently very happily in love with a fellow actor – but it’s not her “Glee” castmate.

“He’s a theater guy. He works on Broadway,” she told Ryan of her boyfriend, who she didn’t name, but has been reported to be thespian Theo Stockman.

As for the man currently wooing Lea on-screen, “Glee” newcomer Jonathan Groff, Lea said fans might be surprised when the motives of Jesse St. James (Jonathan’s character) are revealed.

“He’s a spy right?” Ryan asked.

“The thing is, the storyline for Jesse, whatever reason why you think he’s there is absolutely not why he’s there,” she revealed. “When I read the script, I couldn’t believe it.”
