NEW YORK (November 28, 2006) — Matt Lauer now has another reason to look bleary-eyed on the set of the “Today” show. His wife, Annette, gave birth to a son, the couple’s third child, on Tuesday.
In honor of his wife’s heritage, the boy was given the Dutch name of Thijs (pronounced tice). Born in a New York City hospital at 9:37 a.m. (EST), Thijs weighed in at 7 pounds, 4 ounces.
A source close to Lauer told Access Hollywood the baby was delievered via C-section and mom, dad and baby are all very happy.
The source also told Access the baby does not have a middle name.
Lauer, 48, worked as recently as Monday, but Lester Holt filled in for him on the NBC morning show Tuesday.
Thijs is the couple’s third child. They have a 5-year-old son, Jack, and 3-year-old daughter, Romy.
