Miley Cyrus Ditches Poison Cover For American Music Awards Performance

Miley Cyrus has made a last minute song switch for her 2010 American Music Awards performance, Access Hollywood has learned.

The teen queen was originally scheduled to perform Poison’s classic 80’s power ballad, “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” but decided against it earlier this week, according to an Access Hollywood source.

Instead, the source tells Access that “The Climb” singer will don a “very glamorous dress,” and tackle a more “stripped down” performance of her song, “Forgiveness and Love,” which will emphasize her vocals.

The song switch comes mere weeks after Miley’s parents, Billy Ray and Tish Cryus, announced their impending divorce after 17 years of marriage.

Immediately following the break-up announcement, rumors flew of a possible affair between Poison frontman Bret Michaels and Miley’s mother, Tish.

A rep for Bret denied the alleged affair in a statement to Access at the time, saying, “The reports of my client having an affair with Tish are unfounded and a complete fabrication. He has been a close friend of the [Cyrus] family for some time and has worked with Miley. It’s unfortunate that the sad breakup of Billy Ray and Tish has to be further tainted with these lies being reported.”

Additionally, a rep for Tish also denied the report to Access.

Billy Ray and Tish wed in 1993 and have five children together.

The 2010 American Music Awards air tonight at 8 PM on ABC.
