‘Reign’ Casts Queen Elizabeth; Character To Debut In Season 2 Finale

“Reign” has decided to introduce Queen Elizabeth to The CW drama.

“Fifty Shades of Grey’s” Rachel Skarsten will play the famed English monarch and rival to “Reign’s” Mary, Queen of Scots (and France).

Elizabeth has been talked about a lot during the show’s run, but fans will finally see King Henry VIII’s daughter in the Season 2 finale, as a woman in her early twenties, and early into her rule.

“No single character understands Mary’s unique circumstances more. No character is more of a threat to her happiness and her life,” McCarthy said in a statement.

Elizabeth’s introduction to the show provides a ” catalyst for events in Season 3,” McCarthy’s statement continued.

Season 3, will follow the lives of Mary, Catherine (Megan Follows) and Elizabeth.

“With her introduction, our world expands: the stakes grow even more heightened as we travel to another court filled with the beauty of privilege, passion and intrigue,” McCarthy said. “The wait is over. Elizabeth is here. And I’m certain our audience will welcome her into the fold.”
