Skin Saving DIY Recipes For Winter (Glam Slam)

This time of the year is one of the roughest on your skin — there’s the stress of the season combined with cold, dry weather, and a diet sabotaged by excess holiday food and drink.

Oh yes, don’t forget about our tired, achy feet after a day of Christmas shopping.

But who has time to get to a spa for a little pampering during the holidays? No need to!

Tata Harper, founder of Tata Harper Skincare (celebrity fans include Gwyneth Paltrow, Lake Bell, Liv Tyler, Leighton Meester and Jessica Alba), is here with some holiday DIY recipes to help you get through the season.

Clove & Honey Scrub:
Super-moisturizing and softening. Honey is an amazing humectant, the fresh scent of orange boosts confidence and mood (so essential during holiday-time craziness!) while adding rich vitamin C, and clove smells amazing and is super hydrating. Great for the body. Apply gently to dry skin before showering and then rinse – or, apply during a shower or bath. Keep away from the eyes.

Combine in a medium bowl:

  • 1/2 cup organic coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup organic fine sugar
  • 1 tbsp organic raw honey
  • 1 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 tsp clove oil
  • A sprinkle of cinnamon for an extra seasonal scent

At-Home Peppermint Foot Soak Recipe:
Mix 1 cup of baking soda, 1/2 cup of Epsom salts and the contents of 3-4 peppermint tea bags. Use a couple of tablespoons of this mixture in a gallon of warm water for a soothing and refreshing foot soak to cleanse and strengthen the skin of your feet. Put some marbles or smooth stones on the bottom of the basin for an extra relaxing mini foot massage!

Enjoy!
