Taylor Swift On Meeting First Lady Michelle Obama: I Was ‘Terrified’

Taylor Swift had quite the weekend with the Kids’ Choice Awards, the Academy of Country Music Awards and meeting Michelle Obama for the first time – but why was she scared to meet the First Lady?

Access Hollywood caught up with the 22-year-old star twice this weekend, first at the KCAs in Los Angeles on Saturday, where she revealed that she was a little nervous to meet the President’s wife.

“To be awarded an award from the First Lady was one of the most exciting things, I was so honored and I’ve always been such a huge fan of hers,” she said of Mrs. Obama, who honored Taylor with The Big Help Award for her charity work.

“I’ve been really terrified to meet her because I’m such a fan,” she continued. “I never went to the White House. I never like got a chance to meet her and so to get to meet her on a night like tonight, where she’s giving me an award for something; it was just over-the-top amazing. I’m so thankful.”

Access also caught up with Taylor on Sunday at ACM Awards in Las Vegas, where she won her second consecutive Entertainer of the Year Award – making her and Carrie Underwood the only two females to ever accomplish that feat.

“It has been an amazing weekend,” the young star, who looked gorgeous in a white J. Mendel gown, told Access.
