‘The Voice’ Champ Josh Kaufman Almost Never Auditioned

Josh Kaufman was crowned Season 6 champ of “The Voice” last night, but the SAT tutor-turned-singer was close to never even trying out.

The 38-year-old Indianapolis resident appeared on Access Hollywood Live on Wednesday, where he chatted about his big win for Team Usher.

“The whole journey with him has been amazing. He’s such a good coach,” he said of Usher.

Another major support for Josh is his wife Jennifer, and the couple’s three kids (ages 2, 4 and 6).

“She’s so supportive. She’s actually the one that pushed me to go ahead and do the audition, I almost didn’t do it,” he told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover.

“She had broken her arm and had a cast on and was home with the kids. [She] was just having a really hard time and I was like, ‘You know what? What are the chances that I’m even going to get on the show, I’m just got from stay home.’ And she said, ‘No, you need to go do this,’ and here I am,” he said with a smile.

And Josh’s kids enjoyed watching their dad sing his way to the title.

“They’ve loved watching me on TV and seeing themselves in TV,” he added.

Season 7 of “The Voice” airs this fall on NBC.
