Tina Fey: Playing Palin ‘Weirdest Thing That’s Ever Happened To Me’

As the star of “30 Rock” and former Weekend Update anchor and ex-head writer of “Saturday Night Live,” Tina Fey has seen a lot — but she told Access Hollywood‘s Billy Bush that the recent buzz over her “SNL” portrayal of vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin tops it all.

“The Sarah Palin thing is by far the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to me, and I’ve been around some weird things,” Tina told Billy. “You couldn’t have predicted. Like, who would have predicted that this lady that I kind of look like would be running for vice-president.”

“You say you kind of look like her,” Billy questioned.

“I only kind of look like her,” she retorted. “I kind of had to start to admit that we kind of do [look like].”

In fact, Tina said she’d love to have Sarah’s looks.

“She looks good!” Tina said. “I think it’s the cold air or something. And she’s got real straight teeth. I’ll trade.”

Tina may think there’s just a “kind of” resemblance, but her take on the Alaskan governor has scored “SNL” huge ratings — and thrust the star into the limelight.

“If I were her, I would hate it,” she said. “I would hate it that someone was imitating me on ‘SNL.’ Wouldn’t you hate it?”

While Tina has worried that her satiric portrayal might offend, she isn’t convinced that it will impact the election.

“I think people are over-sensitive to it because it’s a woman,” she said.

And there is another woman Tina thinks may come to dislike her in the coming weeks – Gayle King, Oprah Winfrey’s best pal.

“I think I can officially announce now that we are best friends,” Tina said of Oprah, who recently filmed a cameo on “30 Rock,” which premieres tonight on NBC. “I don’t know who is gonna tell Gayle, but… it’s over.”
