Tom Cruise Preps For ‘Rock Of Ages’ With Guitar Lessons & Long Hair

Tom Cruise has enlisted in rock star boot camp!

“I’m very excited, I am very, very excited!” the actor told Access Hollywood when asked about his upcoming role in the musical “Rock of Ages,” before be accepted his Humanitarian Award at the 2011 Wiesenthal Center National Tribute Dinner in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Thursday night.

“Great cast, great cast, great, great cast. We’re going to have so much fun. We’re working on it for many months and it’s fun. I like trying different things and new challenges and this is definitely a great challenge,” he explained. “I’ve learned a lot, you know I’ve never studied guitar, I’m learning electric guitar, acoustic guitar and singing… I am really enjoying myself.”

The 48-year-old actor is even rocking the long rocker hair for the role of Stacee Jaxx.

“It’s coming in, it’s coming in,” he said of his noticeably longer locks.

Tom also gave Access an update on “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” and revealed that fans might get their first glimpse of the next installment in action franchise very soon.

“When I started it I always wanted to bring in a filmmaker and have him put his stamp on it, his vision and make it their own and I’m just really excited because each one is very distinct,” Tom explained. “I get to produce it with J.J. Abrams, with my dear friend, I love creating with him and [director] Brad Bird is fantastic, the cast is fantastic. You’ll see the trailer for it… maybe in a couple of weeks. So, yeah it’s really exciting.”

“Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” will hit theaters in December and “Rock of Ages” is slated to start shooting this month.
