Tyra Banks & Chrissy Teigen Talk Fertility Issues

Chrissy Teigen and Tyra Banks are getting personal.

The supermodels opened up about their respective fertility issues during a taping for their new talk show “FABLife” on Wednesday, and discussed how hard it is to endure questions from those who don’t understand the struggle many women go through to start a family.

“I am so tired of seeing on my social media, ‘Why don’t you have kids? Why don’t you have kids?’ You don’t know. You don’t know what I’m going through,” Tyra said.

The “America’s Next Top Model” judge said she used to set a deadline for her family planning when she was younger, but found herself continually pushing back the target date. With decades of professional success to her name, Tyra said she’s now ready for kids but has encountered a whole new challenge.

“When I was 23 years old, I used to tell myself, ‘In three years I’m gonna have kids.’ Then I turned 24. ‘In three years I’m gonna have kids.’ And then just every single year I kept saying that,” Tyra said. “And then, after a while, it’s like, ‘OK, now I want to’ – and it’s not so easy.”

The “FABLife” co-host said she wishes there weren’t such a negative stigma attached to women who don’t meet social expectations.

“I just feel like we’re so hard on each other and judgmental of each other,” the single stunner said.

“A woman that has been divorced three times is [considered] more ‘normal’ than a woman that has not been married,” she added.

Chrissy opened up about her own fertility struggles, saying she and husband John Legend have experienced difficulty conceiving for years. The couple has been together for nearly a decade, but the beauty said the pressure to have children has significantly increased since they wed in 2013.

“Just being two years into being married, the questions just come from all over,”  the 29-year-old said. “And it’s kind of crazy, because I cannot imagine being that nosy to be like, ‘So. When are the kids coming?’ because who knows what someone is going through.”

Chrissy went on to reveal that she and John intended to start a family long before tying the knot, and have learned through sharing their story that they’re not alone.

“John and I were having trouble. We would have had kids five, six years ago if it happened,” she said. “But my gosh, it’s been a process. We’ve seen fertility doctors, and then once you open up about all those things to other people, you start learning that a lot of other people in your life are [also] seeing [doctors] and they have this shame about it.”

The “Lip Sync Battle” co-host had a message for anyone tempted to inquire if motherhood is around the corner.

“Anytime somebody asks me if I’m going to have kids, I’m like, ‘One day, you’re going to ask that to the wrong girl who’s really struggling, and it’s going to be really hurtful to them. And I hate that,” she told the “FABLife” audience. “So, I hate it. Stop asking me!'”
