‘The Wiz Live!’: Stars Tweet Their Reaction To NBC’s Latest Musical

Celebrities eased on down the road for “The Wiz
Live!” and had a blast!

NBC aired its third live musical production on Thursday
night to rave reviews from the social media landscape, including a number of
famous fans who shared their enthusiasm throughout the broadcast.

Newcomer Shanice Williams as Dorothy led an all-star cast of
music dynamos and renowned actors, including Ne-Yo, Amber Riley, Elijah Kelley,
Uzo Aduba, David Alan Grier and Common. Powerhouse diva Mary J. Blige and Oscar
winner Queen Latifah rounded out the ensemble as Wicked Witch Evillene and the
“almighty” title character, respectively.

Stephanie Mills, who played Dorothy in the original stage
production, helped bring this version of “The Wiz” full circle with
her turn as Auntie Em.

Director Kenny Leon spearheaded behind-the-scenes
assistance, along with executive producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, who also
oversaw NBC’s earlier live adaptations of “The Sound of Music” and
“Peter Pan.”

Stars of the stage and screen, including Kristin Chenoweth,
Gabourey Sidibe, Audra MacDonald, Missy Elliott and Tyler Perry, took to
Twitter during the show and posted their up-to-the-minute reactions to the
extravagant costumes, cast performances, set design and more, giving “The
Wiz Live!” an undeniable round of applause.
