Zendaya: ‘I’m Not Trying To Grow Up Too Quick’

Disney star Zendaya is in no hurry to grow up!

The “Shake It Up” star – who dropped her self-titled album (in stores now) and penned a new teen advice book, “Between U and Me” – stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Monday, where she chatted about the pressures of growing up in the spotlight.

Does the 17-year-old have anyone in her camp telling her turn up the volume on her sex appeal?

“Oh, heck no!” Zendaya told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover, explaining that the most vocal people in her camp are her mom and dad. “The louder voices are my parents and that ain’t happening.”

While her parents are helping to guide her, what you see from the star is all Zendaya.

“Every little detail and everything I do is coming from myself… There’s nobody that is saying, ‘Hey, you should do this.’ It’s all coming from me,” she continued. “Everyone has their own path… and for me, I’m not trying to grow up too quick and I’m not trying to be anyone I’m not.”

The star said she keeps the people looking up to her in mind when making decisions.

“I always think about my little nieces… I don’t want to do anything that I don’t want them to do when they’re my age,” the singer/actress said.

Zendaya also weighed in on Miley Cyrus’ recent image makeover.

“Miley is Miley. I think it’s a beautiful thing that she is able to be herself and explore and be creative… I’m OK with that,” she added.
