Zendaya Slams Trolls Who Called Her Parents ‘Ugly’

Does anyone shut down haters better than Zendaya? The singer recently penned a thoughtful rebuttal to trolls who poked fun at her mom and dad’s looks.

“They made a gorgeous a** child lol,” a Twitter user wrote on Aug. 20, captioning a throwback shot of Zendaya with her parents, Claire Stoermer and Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, at a press event.

Others began to offer their own hurtful remarks, calling the couple “really ugly,” and even saying they “would cry” if their parents looked like them.

Zendaya took the high road when defending her mom and dad, illustrating where she learned to express herself with such eloquent restraint.

“While you’re so concerned about what my parents look like, please know that these are two of the most selfless people in the world,” the star Tweeted back two days later, including a snap of the smiling family alongside her response.

“They have chosen to spend their entire life, not worried about trivial things such as looks and insulting people’s parents on Twitter,” she continued, “but instead became educators who have dedicate their lives to teaching, cultivating and filling young shallow minds.”

The “Dancing with the Stars” Season 16 runner-up had advice for those wasting their time with snarky comments, and even offered well wishes.

“So please, log out, go to school, hug a teacher and read a textbook,” she said. “And while you’re at it, go look in the mirror and know that you too are beautiful, because such hateful things only stem from internal struggles. Bless you.”

Zendaya’s had some practice with addressing unwarranted criticism. She offered a similarly articulate missive in February, when “Fashion Police” co-host Giuliana Rancic suggested the teen’s Oscars dreadlocks smelled “like patchouli oil … or maybe weed.”

Just four months later, another red carpet hairstyle came under fire when fans blasted a pixie-cut wig she wore to the BET Awards.

That time, the star had a little bit more fun when defending herself.
